Outdoor Skills Acquisition

Ikigi (purpose)

This is a course NOT a workshop. It can be taught as a two day experience or can be divided into four, half day sessions. This curriculum provides the “whole enchilada”of Bushcraft skills, forest navigation skills and “thriving not just surviving” skills needed to comfortably hike and spend overnight in our local “River to Bluff” ecosystem.

Umbutu (connection)

This experience is only offered to “moais” as it is designed to not only enhance nature connection skills but also emphasizes group connection skills.

Hanta (movement)

Other activities may be added to enhance the experience (group sauna, using the power of the circle for connection, etc)

• The core of the course; you will produce your own “River to Bluff” overnight bushcraft forest “kit”
• Modify carbon steel pakka knife (yours to keep)
• Learn the 2x2x2x2 rule
• Basic fire starting techniques
• Basic forest navigation techniques
